Financial Literacy Workshops

Financial literacy is the ability to understand and effectively use various financial tools which includes budgeting, saving, personal credit, and investing. Financial literacy is the foundation of your relationship with money, and it is a lifelong journey of mastering the tools within your financial tool bag. The earlier you start, the better off you will be because education is the key to success when it comes to money.

Financial literacy includes understanding how a checking account works, what using a credit card really means, and how to avoid debt. Essentially, financial literacy has an enormous impact on families as they try to balance their budget, buy a home, fund their children’s education, and ensure an income for retirement.

The Breadwinners financial literacy workshops provide a hands-on approach to learning the financial tools that are available. These workshops are taught through a cohort curriculum that challenges each student to be involved, active, and accountable for their decisions through interactive-simulated exercises. The Breadwinners bring real-life experiences into the classroom and each student will have a better understanding of the following:

  1. Emotions and our relationship with money

  2. Budgeting & saving

  3. Personal banking

  4. Personal credit and FICO

  5. Investing

  6. Taxes

  7. Debt management

  8. Financial goal setting

“I will no longer reside along the sidelines wishing things would change financially within our community. I will proactively pursue change by becoming more vocal and educating every group I am presented to.” - Jason B Lockett Sr.
